The game
Originating in 19th-century China, Mahjong is a game of skill, memory, and measured risk, played with 144 tiles across four suits. Its spread across Asia and the world has produced dozens of rich regional variants — Hong Kong, Riichi, Taiwanese, Singaporean, American — each with its own depth.
In the Gulf and across South Asia, Mahjong has found a new and serious audience. The Sandalwood Club welcomes players of every school and every level, from those who are just beginning to those who have been playing for decades.
